OFFICIAL: (SAINT OF THE SLUMS) MOTHER TERESA IS NOW A ROMAN CATHOLIC SAINT

Image
An interview with Mother Teresa Who is Mother Teresa of Calcutta? Well Mother Teresa herself gave her identity: "By blood, I am Albanian. By citizenship, an Indian. By faith, I am a Catholic nun. As to my calling, I belong to the world. As to my heart, I belong entirely to the Heart of Jesus."  On Sept. 4, 2016, Mother Teresa will be officially proclaimed a saint by Pope Francis at a canonization Mass in St. Peter’s Square in Rome.  Even before this ceremony, she has been acclaimed a saint not just by Christians, but many others of other faiths. Born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu‎ of Albanian parents on ‎August 26, 1910, in Skopje, in ‎what ‎is ‎Macedonia today, Mother Teresa came to eastern India’s Kolkata city, formerly Calcutta, in ‎‎1929, as a missionary of the Sisters of Loreto.  Later, in what she described as a ‘call within a call’, she founded ‎her Missionaries of Charity congregation in 1950 to serve Jesus in the distressing disguise of the poorest of

HEROISM AND SACRIFICE: THE CATHOLIC HISTORY OF AUSCHWITZ

Image
By Ann Schneible Rome, Italy, Jul 29, 2016 / 12:20 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Pope Francis sat quietly in one of Auschwitz's most ominous prison cells, praying in what had been the inhumane living space of St. Maximilian Kolbe, a Catholic priest martyred during the Holocaust. St. Maximilian was one of over a million people estimated to have died in the Auschwitz concentration camps, where the Pope paid a visit on July 29 during his trip to Poland. This August marks the 75th anniversary of his death. Although the majority of those incarcerated in the death camps were Jews, targeted by the Nazi regime for extermination, many of the victims were Catholics, including priests and religious sisters. St. Maximilian, a Franciscan friar, died in 1941 after asking to take the place of another prisoner who was destined for execution. The following year, Edith Stein, the German Jewish philosopher turned Catholic Carmelite nun, was also killed at Auschwitz, most likely in the

MAN RAPES, IMPREGNANT 15-YEAR-OLD IN LAGOS.

Image
The Lagos State police Command has arrested a man, Ike Iwuanyanwu, for allegedly raping and impregnating his15-year-old daughter, Priscilla (pseudonym) at Ajao Estate, in the Isolo area of the state. Our correspondent gathered that Iwuanyanwu, who was a company driver living on Anuoluwapo Street in the estate, was arrested on Wednesday after the matter was reported at the Ajao Estate Police Division. It was learnt that the victim had been taken into custody by the Lagos State Government. PUNCH Metro gathered that Iwuanyanwu had also allegedly beaten his daughter and wife, warning them not to disclose the incident to anyone. It was learnt that Priscilla’s mother, however, informed her family members on Wednesday, who went to the girl’s school to confirm the story from her. The case was thereafter reported to the state Ministry ofVYouth and Social Development, which informed the police. A neighbour of the Iwuanyanwus, who spoke on condition off anonymity, said the victim was the

RELIGION WITHOUT REALITY

Image
The bible is full of case studies of people who had religion without reality. God took a definite stand against them.   Do you remember Adam? The bible tells us that he was the first created man (Gen. 1:27). One day Adam fell out with God. Do you know what he did? When next he heard the voice of God, he ran away. This is what many are doing today. They hear the voice of God in their heart,on radio, in the church, tract, in a sermon, in a magazine or book, in a particular incident and immediately they hide themselves. You cannot know, the reality of the religion of the Bible while you hide from God! Friend, how long will you hide away from God?   The reality of religion lies in its ability to deliver the soulvof its possession of religious power without deliverance from sin. To speak and know of religious power without deliverance from sin is to have religion without reality. you can't enjoy God that way. We have what I call 'crisis religion' in our world today.

MOST MARRIAGES TODAY ARE INVALID POPE FRANCIS SUGGEST

Image
Impromptu remarks June 16. After addressing the Diocese of Rome’s pastoral congress, he held a question-and-answer session. A layman asked about the “crisis of marriage” and how Catholics can help educate youth in love, help them learn about sacramental marriage, and help them overcome “their resistance, delusions and fears.” The Pope answered from his own experience. “I heard a bishop say some months ago that he met a boy that had finished his university studies, and said ‘I want to become a priest, but only for 10 years.’ It’s the culture of the provisional. And this happens everywhere, also in priestly life, in religious life,” he said. “It’s provisional, and because of this the great majority of our sacramental marriages are null. Because they say “yes, for the rest of my life!” but they don’t know what they are saying. Because they have a different culture. They say it, they have good will, but they don’t know.” He spoke of his encounter with a woman in Buenos Aires

THE DIFFENCE BETWEEN COURTSHIP AND DATING

Image
What is the difference between courtship and dating? Is the only difference that dating is casual and courtship is exclusive with movement towards engagement? I don't want to date more than one guy at a time, but I might not want to marry that one guy, either. Does this mean we're just dating? These terms are often used interchangeably, depending on which one the person feels most comfortable using. A Christian person uses the word “courtship”. You never hear a non-Christian use this term at any time. So courtship, just as a term, has meaning and value to a Christian. However, among Christians, you still hear “courtship” and “dating” used interchangeably; indicating that many single people find the terms to mean the same thing. Why would anyone use the term “courtship” when they are simply “dating”? I believe it is a “feel good” kind of word. Some Christians find the word “dating” to be a negative term due to their secular counterparts using the term excessively. I thi

PROTESTANT AND THE DEUTEROCANONICAL

Image
At the time of the reformtion, opinion were divided about whether to include certain books in the old testament canon. The books in question, which are wrongly termed " the Apocrypha" ("not authentic") by Protestants, are called the "D euterocanonical"  ("second canon") books by catholics: they are Tobias (Tobit), Judith, 1 and 2 Machabees, Wisdom, Ecclesiasticus (or Sirach), and Baruch.Portions of Daniel and Esther. At the council of Trent the Catholic Church declared them part of the biblical canon. Protestants differred. In his great german translation of Bible, Martin Luther grouped the Deuterocanonical and possitioned them between the old and new Testaments. Athough he did not define the limits of the Testament canon, Luther thus indicated that the Deuterocanonical are seperate and distinct from the scriptures.        Other early reformers agreed. In the Zurich Bible of 1529 and the English Geneva Bible of 1560, the Protestant edi

FALLING IN LOVE WITH THE WRONG PERSON

Image
What do people mean when they say they have fallen in love? what do they actually notice about themselves that made them to come to that conclusion of affirmation? what are usually the general feelings noticeable in those with such a claim, first by themselves and then by those close to them?  To say that one had fallen in love is to come to the awareness that you have suddenly developed a strong feeling of attraction to another person. You will observe that you feel deeply attracted to that person. You will often feel like being with that person and being with that person will make you feel very happy and highly excited. Such closeness will bring about deep fondness of both persons, if they happen to accept to be friends Somehow, unfortunately, ad exciting as falling in love is, it is most concentrated more on EROS( sexual love). Falling in love has been most often presented as if once you fall in love you must have intercourse. This has also made falling in love looks as if it

HOW CATHOLIC POPES ARE ELECTED AND WHY THEY CHANGE NAMES WHEN ELECTED

Image
The religious head of the Catholic Church is known as the Pope or the Bishop of Rome. He is elected by the College of Cardinals, who as a group rank next to the Pope as in ecclesiastical authority. New Pope are elected on the death or  retirement of a current Pope. To be elected, a new Pope must be named on two-thirds of the ballots cast, and each member of the College of Cardinals must vote. Once elected, a Pope must be asked by the dean of of cardinals if he accepts the post. If he does, he is then askef to choose a name.     Name changing can be traced to Saint Peter, the very first Pope of the Catholic Church. Saint Peter's given name was Symeon or Simon, this the name he went by until Jesus changed it to Peter,  which means rock in Greek.     However, popular history shows that the first pope to change his name was Pope John II, whose birth name, prior to his election in January 533, was Mercurius. He was named after the Roman God Mercury, but in order to avoid namin
